Anthropic is hiring a Staff+ Fullstack Software Engineer for the Safeguards Engineering team in San Francisco. You will design and build safety-related tooling to monitor models, detect misuse, and support user well-being, while enforcing terms of service and policies.

The role emphasizes cross-stack work, strong communication, and collaboration with research, policy, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure interfaces for monitoring and intervention at large scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern React; comfortable in Python for backend work.
• Ability to work across the stack and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design and build internal review tools for abuse investigations, including dashboards, queues, and evidence viewers.
• Build interfaces where humans supervise agents: streaming output, interruption/approval flows, and provenance for actions.
• Surface abuse patterns to research teams with visualization and exploration tools.
• Own frontend architecture for tools handling sensitive data at scale with performance and access controls.
