Job summary

Castlight is hiring a Staff Full Stack Engineer to own end-to-end product slices across backend and frontend on GCP. You will architect and deploy Java Spring and Python services while crafting Angular micro-frontends for large-scale health products.

You will collaborate with product leadership, drive rapid prototyping, and raise engineering standards to deliver fast, reliable experiences to millions of users. This is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering across frontend and backend at scale.
• Strong expertise in Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and/or Python for microservices on GCP.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and Angular, with micro-frontends or design systems experience.
• Ownership of features end-to-end, from backend endpoints to UI components.
• Experience with GCP, CI/CD, containers, and micro-frontend architectures.
• Excellent communication of architectural decisions and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

Reporting into Engineering Leadership, you will serve as a premier Staff Individual Contributor driving end-to-end technical execution across our consumer health products. You will be equipped with modern tools, given clear ownership, and empowered to build complete user experiences from the database layer to the frontend UI.

In this role, you will:

• Build End-to-End Solutions: Architect, write, and deploy complete product slices—building scalable Java Spring / Python backend services on GCP and crafting white-labeled micro-frontends in Angular.
• Drive Rapid POCs & Prototyping: Partner directly with Product Managers to take raw 0-to-1 ideas and rapidly transform them into polished, production-ready experiences.
• Elevate Engineering Standards: Raise the bar for code quality, deployment speed, and system architecture across both frontend and backend domains.
• Optimize Full-Stack Performance: Bridge the gap between server response times and client-side rendering to create ultra-fast, seamless consumer experiences for millions of users.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Technical Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience spanning both frontend and backend software development at scale.
• Backend Mastery: Strong expertise in Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and/or Python, with a track record of building resilient, high-throughput RESTful microservices on GCP.
• Frontend Mastery: Deep expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks (Angular preferred, but React/Vue expertise welcomed) with experience building scalable micro-frontends or design systems.
• Full-Stack Ownership: Proven capability to take complete ownership of complex features, delivering both backend endpoints and UI components end-to-end.
• Systems & Architecture: Comfortable working with cloud infrastructure (GCP), CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and micro-frontend architectures.
• Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate end-to-end architectural decisions, trade-offs, and product requirements across both technical and non-technical teams.

Compensation Range:

$131,243.00

to

$196,865.00

The anticipated base salary range represents the Company’s good-faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
