Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced semiconductor technology professional to lead process technology planning and optimization for Semi-Custom products, spanning from pre-silicon development to high-volume production. You will bridge foundry partners, internal teams, and customers to identify opportunities and resolve complex challenges.

Ideal candidates will have strong device physics knowledge, yield engineering expertise, and proven program management skills

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of device physics and yield engineering.
• Experience leading semiconductor new product introduction from pre-silicon through high-volume manufacturing.

• Define expectations for foundry capabilities and process roadmaps to meet product requirements.
• Lead NPI and product development for Semi-Custom products from pre-silicon through high-volume production and sustaining.
• Own and manage foundry technology execution across key product-development milestones.
• Perform wafer-level modeling to optimize wafer layouts, scribe configurations, die utilization, and product cost.
• Evaluate device best-known methods and drive their implementation across applicable products.
• Monitor process targeting and optimization to achieve product power, performance, area, yield, reliability, and cost objectives.
• Lead root-cause analysis and continuous process improvements related to yield, reliability, and manufacturing performance.
• Serve as the technical interface among internal functional teams, foundry partners, and external customers.
• Communicate technical risks, tradeoffs, recommendations, and progress clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

THE ROLE

AMD’s Foundry Technology & Product Optimization (TPO) team is responsible for defining and executing AMD’s process technology strategy—from pre-silicon development through high-volume production. The team delivers predictable, flexible, competitive, reliable, and cost-effective foundry technologies that enable AMD’s product and business objectives.

In this role, you will lead process technology planning and optimization for Semi-Custom products across power, performance, area, yield, reliability, and cost. You will serve as a technical bridge among foundry partners, internal engineering teams, and customers, helping identify opportunities, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure successful product execution from new product introduction through volume manufacturing.

THE PERSON

You are an experienced semiconductor technology professional with strong knowledge of device physics, yield engineering, and advanced process technologies. You combine technical depth with strong program leadership, analytical thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.

You are detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable using data and AI-enabled tools to identify trends, support decisions, and drive continuous improvement.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Strong technical expertise in semiconductor device physics and yield engineering.
• Experience leading semiconductor new product introduction from pre-silicon development through high-volume manufacturing.
• Knowledge of advanced process integration, including FinFET technologies; experience with Gate-All-Around (GAA) technologies is a plus.
• Experience with wafer-level modeling, layout optimization, die utilization, process targeting, and cost improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate complex yield or reliability challenges and drive root-cause resolution.
• Strong technical program management skills with experience coordinating cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Proficiency in data analysis; experience using AI-enabled analytical tools is an asset.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical environment.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
