Job summary

Onterris is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer to support environmental projects onsite in Santa Ana, CA with a hybrid option. You will assist with fieldwork, prepare permits and guidance documents, and help ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 0-2 years of environmental compliance experience with industrial, municipal, and/or federal clientele.
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record in accordance to Company standard.
  • Working knowledge of business software (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • This position can be physically demanding and will require work in various environments/conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends through training and publications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life

Our Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer will provide direct support, under the direction of Project Managers and Principals, to environmental projects. This role is based onsite/in-office in Santa Ana, CA and can accommodate a hybrid work arrangement.

The Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer will complete tasks as assigned using applicable tools and skills to help develop, implement, and maintain management strategies, procedures, and plans for our clients to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. The position will be required to conduct fieldwork, perform basic calculations and analysis, prepare permit applications and regulatory guidance documents, and assist with preparation of other environmental documents, such as periodic reports. This role requires that the individual is familiar with the Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office suite of applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), personal data file (PDF) editors (i.e., Adobe or Foxit), and Google Earth.

The annual salary range for this role is $71,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, both within Montrose and for our clients and affiliates

  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including completion of all required safety training programs

  • Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts

  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • This position can be physically demanding and will require work in various working environments/conditions which requires that an individual be physically capable of canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially in inclement weather.

  • The position may involve local travel as needed.

  • Prior environmental consulting experience is a plus
