Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations and assessments of soil, groundwater, surface water, etc. using approved industry standard procedures.
  • Use field results to support site characterization including subsurface explorations and monitoring well data.
  • Conduct basic construction observation with QC documentation and field testing tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Apply academic training and use computer software to perform calculations and evaluate information.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Assist with scope of work development and cost estimating for proposals on small- to medium-sized projects.
  • Assist with collection, documentation, and organization of field data per project plans.
  • Perform work in accordance with health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate foundational safety behaviors.
  • Conduct or oversee remedial system O&M and field pilot studies.
  • Support project environmental data reduction and summarization.

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer/Geologist 1 to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full‑time position located in our Greenville, SC or Charlotte, NC office.

In this role, you will support environmental projects involving site assessment, characterization, environmental data collection and interpretation, and remediation. You will work on projects for clients in the industrial and manufacturing, energy, and real estate markets. This position involves at least 50% fieldwork and frequent overnight travel, providing opportunities to develop hands‑on investigation, sampling, documentation, and problem‑solving skills. You will collaborate with experienced professionals and multidisciplinary project teams while building a strong foundation for career growth along either a technical‑specialist or project‑management path.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct field investigations and assessments of soil, groundwater, surface water, etc. using approved industry standard procedures.
  • Use the results of field investigations such as subsurface explorations, monitoring well construction, field sampling and other work to support site characterization.
  • Conduct basic construction observation, including quality control documentation and field testing tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities both in the field and during data evaluation.
  • Apply academic training and use computer software to perform calculations and evaluation of information.
  • Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium‑sized project opportunities.
  • Assist with the collection, documentation, and organization of field data in accordance with project specific plans.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.
  • Conduct or oversee remedial system O&M and field pilot study demonstrations.
  • Support project environmental data reduction and summarization.
  • Support project feasibility study, remedial design, cost estimating, and permitting tasks.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
  • Able and willing to perform fieldwork at least 50% of the time, with frequent overnight travel.
Preferred Skills
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.

The salary range for this position in Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC is $55,000 - $68,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
