Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector seeks a qualified Staff Systems Engineer for the SEIT Lead role. This on-site position is located in Dulles, VA and does not support remote work.

The SEIT Lead ensures engineering process integrity and timely development of core work products to support ground segment operations, sustainment, and enhancement, with CAM responsibilities and cross-team coordination across the program lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the cost account manager for the systems engineering responsibilities.
• Plan and execute the core engineering leadership functions and ensure the project team has qualified staff to execute the program core functions.
• Plan, execute, and close out program reviews and milestones (e.g., SRR, MVP, MVC, FAT, SAT, etc.).
• Ensure system technical compliance with the program SOW, system requirements, and manage scope control of technical team.
• Manage the vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life-cycle.
• Oversee configuration management of the overall operational technical Baseline.
• Serve as the Logistics and Supportability Interface ensuring cross-discipline integration across phases of the program lifecycle.
• Collect, manage and report the program metrics and TPMs.
• Manage risk and opportunity and the production of core engineering work products and track dependencies in the program schedule.
• Support the transition of the new space segment hardware and software to operations, maintenance, and sustainment stakeholders.
• Coordinate between technical leads, program manager, and customer to ensure integrity of the program baseline.
• Act as primary technical working group lead and interface with external parties; manage contractor giver-receivers, track actions, and manage technical team interactions.
• Lead technical management and execution of the SE team; direct and control integrated engineering development at ground segment and mission levels.
• Drive requirements development for new capabilities where applicable.
• Identify and manage resources required to support test planning, testing, and milestones.
• Manage the cyber and infrastructure team to ensure successful stand up of an accredited environment and continued maintenance.
• Lead system analysis and trade studies as needed.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, seeks a qualified Staff Systems Engineer for the role of the SEIT Lead. This position is located in Dulles, VA and does not support remote work

The SEIT Lead ensures the integrity of engineering processes, and timely development of core engineering work products that support operations, sustainment and enhancement of the ground segment. The SEIT Lead typically has Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibility, which comprises cost and schedule management for the planned updates to the system. The SEIT Lead interfaces with the Ops and Sustainment Program Manager, other engineering team leads, as well as the customer. The SEIT lead will be the primary interface for multi-party technical working groups and will manage giver-receivers and action tracking.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Serve as the cost account manager for the systems engineering (and potentially multiple other organizations) responsibilities
• Plan and execute the core engineering leadership functions and ensure the project team has qualified staff to execute the program core functions

• Manage the vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life-cycle
• Oversee configuration management of the overall operational technical Baseline
• Serve as the Logistics and Supportability Interface ensuring that all applicable specialty engineering disciplines horizontally integrate across applicable phases of the program lifecycle
• Collect, manage and report the program metrics and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs)
• Manage risk and opportunity and the production of core engineering work products and track the work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule
• Support the transition of the new space segment hardware and software to the operations, maintenance, and sustainment stakeholders
• Coordinate between the technical leads, program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline
• Act as primary technical working group lead and interface with external parties; managing contractor giver-receivers, track actions, and manage technical team interactions
• Lead technical management and execution of the SE team; direct and control integrated engineering development at the ground segment and mission levels
• Drive requirements development for new capabilities where applicable

Basic Qualifications

• B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 12 years of experience or M.S. in STEM or related area and 10 years of experience or 8 years with PHD
• Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Experience leading technical teams
• Experience in systems development, integration, and test
• Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Ground Systems
• Familiarity with software development and agile processes
• Experience working with 3rd parties and developing partner/customer

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
