• 7+ years of software development in enterprise/web apps.
• 5+ years in React/TypeScript/React JS/Python/Node.js or similar.
• 5+ years in cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• 3+ years as full-stack Java with microservices, FAST API and Spring Boot/REST.
• 3+ years of Agile development practices.
• 3+ years applying AI tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q).

Position Summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to design, develop and implement digital solutions and systems by applying advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the overall technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and communicate the long-term application development strategy, aligning it with organizational goals and business objectives
• Manage the application development team’s day-to-day work, fostering collaboration, agility, and continuous growth while ensuring high-quality, timely delivery
• Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, and business intelligence to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
• Allocate resources and prioritize development projects using sound problem-solving and decision-making, ensuring effective use of skills, budget, and personnel
• Conduct risk assessments and establish governance processes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Collaborate with senior management and business leaders to understand application needs and requirements, ensuring solutions meet client and business needs
• Communicate regularly with external partners, vendors, and clients to build positive relationships, gather feedback, and align development efforts with customer expectations and business objectives
• Review and approve project deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with the organization’s technology strategy

Required Qualifications:

• ~7+ years of software development experience in enterprise/web applications
• ~5 + years of experience in React, React TypeScript, React JS, Python, Nodejs or other front-end frameworks
• ~5+ years of experience Cloud Technologies like GCP, AWS, Azure, or other public cloud services
• ~3+ years of experience as full stack developer in Java-based technologies including microservices, FAST API and spring boot framework /REST
• ~3+ years of experience in Agile development practices
• ~3+ years of experience applying AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Amazon Q to accelerate software design, development, testing, and code review

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as full stack developer in Java-based technologies including microservices, FAST API and spring boot framework /REST
• Experience leading projects or managing directs
• Experience with emerging cloud platform technologies such as: AWS Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, GKE, Google DBs (Bigquery, Spanner, BigTable) or other PaaS technologies
• Demonstrated ability to guide teams in adopting AI-assisted engineering practices responsibly, including evaluating outputs for quality, security, and reliability.
• Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) preferred
• Certified Agile Developer (CAD) preferred

Education:

~ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $213,210.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
