Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Salt Lake City seeks a Staff Engineer Quality to join our Quality and Mission Assurance team. You will develop and maintain quality systems, assess risks, review contracts, and support gate reviews to ensure contractual requirements are met.

The ideal candidate holds a engineering degree with substantial quality experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, with hands-on data analysis and continuous improvement expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field with extensive experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Quality Assurance; 12 years; 10 years with Master’s.
• Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Technical experience in Quality, Data Analysis or Statistical Analysis.
• Risk management principles and contractual requirement review experience.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or experience.
• US Citizenship Required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols.
• Assesses program performance and risks related to quality requirements to ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Review and assess contractual requirements for applicability.
• Perform cost account management-related activities on programs.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with customers.
• Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to ensure quality standards are in place and met.
• Support program gate reviews as required.
• Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts QA tests; performs statistical analysis.
• Work from engineering drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, and checklists to ensure items meet requirements.
• Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to identify root causes and ensure robust corrective actions.
• Ensure corrective measures meet reliability standards and documentation is compliant with requirements.
• Apply technical knowledge in QA methods, interpretation of drawings and standards, and mechanical measurement.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for a Staff Engineer Quality to support the Quality and Mission Assurance team located in Salt Lake City, UT.

What You'll Get To Do

• Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished product.
• Assesses program performance and risks related to quality requirements to ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Review and assess contractual requirements for applicability.
• Perform cost account management-related activities on programs supporting.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with customers.
• Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to ensure quality standards are in place and met.
• Support program gate reviews as required.
• Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
• Work from engineering drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, and checklists to ensure items meet required specifications and quality standards.
• Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering personnel to identify the root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• Applies technical knowledge in industry-standard quality engineering methods, interpretation of drawing requirements and applicable specifications & standards, and mechanical measurement & analysis.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Basic Qualifications For The Staff Engineer Quality

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field with 12 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Quality Assurance; 10 years of experience with Masters Degree.
• Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.).
• Technical experience in Quality, Data Analysis or Statistical Analysis.
• Risk management principles and contractual requirement review experience.
• Lean Six Sigma certification or experience.
• US Citizenship Required.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles and concepts.
• Experience in design and/or manufacturing of electromechanical, and/or soldering certification.
• IPC certification and/or electronic experience.
• Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) experience.
• Experience with application of industry-standard statistical methods, including implementation of statistical analysis software applications (e.g., Minitab).
• Experience maintaining positive supplier relationships, including successful resolution of supplier quality challenges.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
