Job summary

ARM Group is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Solid Waste practice, collaborating with engineers, scientists, PMs, CAD designers, and staff across projects in solid waste management, environmental services, and water resources. The role focuses on delivering technically sound solutions and consistent project support.

You will prepare drawings, review reports, and perform calculations, while communicating with stakeholders and traveling to sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports.
  • Observe and monitor field work to analyze possible problems.
  • Perform and/or check technical calculations.
  • Use civil and environmental engineering principles to develop solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, permits, and related documents.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate with project managers and other engineers.
  • Recognize non-routine conditions, develop solutions, and seek guidance.

Description

As a Staff Engineer working within our well-established Solid Waste practice area, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, CAD designers, and other staff to service our client’s needs. This role will support a wide range of projects related to solid waste management, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, water resources, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control planning, and construction administration.

This position can be filled at the following ARM Group locations:
  • Hershey, PA
  • Columbia, MD
  • Marlton, NJ
  • West Chester, PA
  • Newtown Sq, PA
Requirements
  • Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports.
  • Observe and monitor field work to analyze possible problems.
  • Perform and/or check technical calculations.
  • Use the principles of civil and environmental engineering to develop solutions to environmental problems.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, emails, permit applications, etc. for projects.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables on project and obtain further knowledge and experiences.
  • Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project manager, project engineers, and other members of the project team.
  • Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature, develop solutions, and seek guidance when needed.
Base Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • A self-starter possessing strong communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Desire to work on multiple projects in parallel rather than a single large project for months.
  • Requires travel to job sites and occasionally out of the local area overnight stay.
Preferred Requirements
  • E.I.T. certification or the opportunity to obtain certification can be developed.
Physical Requirements
  • Mobility: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate uneven or rocky terrain, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Capability to lift and move equipment or samples safely, typically weighing up to 35 to 50 lbs.
