Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is seeking a Staff Engineer I to support the Point Comfort, TX and Louisiana, LA plants with a primary focus on reliability and corrosion-related loss prevention.

Qualifications

The candidate has a BS in Engineering and 1–4 years of relevant refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, or related experience.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities are required.
Familiarity with material standards (ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, NACE, ISO) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain corrosion control programs and standards.
Review corrosion-related PM/PdM activities and assess risk of CEMP/CUI.
Lead or participate in incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
Support PSM equipment ITP development and audits.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and process engineering teams to improve reliability.
Monitor production/unit performance and prepare cost analyses and quarterly scorecards.
Review improvement projects (B-1/B-2/B-4/B-5/PE-7) for life-cycle cost optimization.
Provide technical training and mentoring to corrosion control personnel.

STAFF ENGINEER I

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This pivotal role provides support to the FPC plant in both Point Comfort, TX, and Louisiana, LA, with a primary focus on enhancing plant operations and reliability. Operating within a collaborative team environment, it assumes responsibility for implementing reliability best practices, optimizing preventive maintenance tasks, and supporting maintenance activities. The position entails active interaction with other technical groups on-site (Operation/Process engineering, Maintenance), peers, and vendors/suppliers to resolve issues and enhance overall plant reliability and performance. This position exists to provide assistance and recommendation on corrosion related evaluation through participating of P&ID review, equipment specification review, damage mechanism review of equipment inspections, Equipment Abnormal Analysis review, PSM operations issues review, RBMI corrosion research, incident investigations, project review / study, PHA study, inspection and maintenance audit. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and analyzing the performance of various plant production and maintenance units to identify deficiencies and ensure activities align with policies, procedures, and guidelines. This multifaceted position oversees production budget reviews, incentive/value creation evaluations, performance scorecard calculations, production performance reports, various cost analyses, and troubleshooting production issues. Furthermore, it plays a key role in reviewing improvement projects such as B-1/B-2/B-4/B5/PE-7 and PRs.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Development and maintenance of Corrosion Control Manual.
Review and improvement of corrosion standards and procedures.
Responsible for development, review and maintenance of CEMP, CUI and CUF program.
Provide assist and training on corrosion related PM/PdM program activities, such as corrosion rates calculation and assess risk of CEMP and CUI /CUF.
Provide improvement for identified corrosion problems.
Assist in development of PSM equipment ITP.
Oversee corrosion related regular or T/A operation and maintenance activities.
Assist in the technical development and mentoring of operations-based corrosion control personnel through routine interactions and providing technical review and support.
Carries out failure analysis on corrosion related leakage or VOC occurrence and failure investigations in order to enhance safety and integrity of the plant.
Provide technical resource in analysis of data and damage mechanisms.
Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues such as Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), accident investigation.
Provide recommendations and training to operations / maintenance personnel and support leadership team.
Provide technical support/expertise during the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets to minimize life cycle cost and maximize asset availability.
Offer technical support within your discipline to production, maintenance, project, and process engineering groups.
Conduct reviews and studies on related capital improvement projects submitted (B-1/B-2/B-4/B-5/PE-7).
Apply value analysis to decisions regarding repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy.
Lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses.
Address and troubleshoot plant production issues through daily production report and monthly operation deficiency report.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Related Experience Required

Minimum of 1 - 4 years direct relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, power generation industries, or similar industry is required.
