Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The Firmware & Product Test (FPT) team at Micron Technology holds a pivotal role in validating firmware specifications for SSDs. The team develops comprehensive verification plans, implements them using Python, and ensures strict alignment to NVMe standards and security protocols. Validation occurs across multiple environments, including simulation, FPGA prototyping, and prototype hardware.

Summary of the Role

The Engineer (E4) in the Firmware & Product Testing (FPT) team supports the validation of enterprise SSD firmware through test development, automation, execution, and failure analysis. This role focuses on NVMe front-end features and customer specifications while applying Python-based automation and data-driven techniques to improve test efficiency and product quality. Working closely with firmware test engineers, senior mentors, and data scientists, the engineer gains hands‑on experience at the intersection of firmware validation and AI/ML, contributing to more effective and scalable testing methodologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement firmware verification plans for customer requirements and NVMe protocol features, including SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, and OCP

  • Analyze regression and validation failures, perform root‑cause analysis, and communicate findings and mitigation plans

  • Develop and enhance test automation, reporting, and data‑collection tools within established validation frameworks

  • Leverage AI‑assisted tools, LLMs, and agent‑based solutions to improve test development, failure analysis, workflow automation, and validation efficiency

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and approximately 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and approximately 7 years of experience, in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • Proficiency in Python, including experience with libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and Scikit‑learn

  • Experience with test automation, testing methodologies, validation frameworks, and code review practices

  • Working knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, model evaluation concepts, and data‑driven problem solving

  • Experience using AI‑enabled development tools, LLMs, prompt engineering techniques, or AI‑driven workflows in software development, automation, or data analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

  • Experience applying machine learning, data science, or AI solutions to engineering, testing, or analytics challenges

  • Understanding of embedded systems, firmware validation, hardware testing, or enterprise storage technologies

  • Familiarity with Git, Agile development practices, and modern software engineering workflows

  • Experience building or integrating AI‑enabled automation solutions using Generative AI, LLMs, agent‑based frameworks, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, or similar tools

Micron Technology is committed to advancing memory and storage solutions through engineering excellence, cross‑functional collaboration, and responsible innovation.
