Job summary

Yeh is seeking a Staff Engineer to work alongside engineers and geologists on geotechnical investigations for foundations and construction projects in Colorado. You will contribute to design recommendations for roads, bridges, airports, and buildings, and support field and lab evaluations.

The role requires strong problem-solving, teamwork, and clear communication; travel for short durations is expected with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering required; Master’s in Civil/Geotechnical a plus.
• Engineer in Training exam completed or in progress.
• Ability to perform field investigations using drill rigs and backhoes; collect samples for lab testing.
• Proficiency in preparing technical reports with engineering recommendations.

Description

As a Staff Engineer, you will work side-by-side professional engineers and geologists assisting in geological and geotechnical engineering investigations including field and laboratory evaluations to develop foundation and general construction recommendations for design specifications and plans. Typical projects include Colorado Department of Transportation Road and Bridge design, Airport Infrastructure, Municipality roads and vertical construction buildings, trails, Commercial buildings, and some private sector projects

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering degree required, Master’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering a plus.
• Completion of Engineer in Training Exam
• Assist with proposal preparation, cost estimates
• Perform field geotechnical investigations working with drill rig and backhoe equipment. Retrieve samples and prepare them for transport and laboratory testing
• Perform engineering evaluations and calculations for foundation design including shallow and deep foundation options for bridges and commercial / private structures
• Perform engineering evaluations such as dam seepage analysis, global stability of retaining walls, and pavement section recommendations for roadways.
• Prepare technical reports summarizing field and laboratory services and providing engineering recommendations
• Review and approve inspection reports, understand, and read construction plans for field verification
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Self-motivated, with strong technical problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and communication skills
• Ability to contribute and work well as part of a team

Preference

• Experience with Microsoft applications, MathCAD, Slide and/or SLOPEW, LPILE, and other technical programs

Work environment

• Working in all types of terrain and weather conditions
• Familiar with construction project, working around heavy equipment
• Willing to travel for short duration projects, overnight stays with per-diem and lodging paid for by company
• Loud noise levels, strong adherence to safety
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
