Job summary

SimSpace Corporation seeks a Staff Engineer to lead the Range Against the Machine team. You will guide cyber range architectures, automate with Ansible/Packer, and mentor engineers across complex networking, Windows/Linux, and security environments.

You’ll work on reusable templates, virtualization, and enterprise environments to improve security readiness and simulator capabilities across customers and SimSpace platforms.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience designing, building, automating, and supporting complex infra or cybersecurity.
• Advanced enterprise-networking and troubleshooting across routing, switching, and security.
• Hands-on Windows Server/AD and Linux administration across multiple distros.
• Production experience with Ansible, Packer, VMware vCenter, and cloud/virtualization.
• Experience with security technologies, ICS/OT architecture, and telemetry.
• Proficiency with Git and automated validation/release practices.
• Ability to lead ambiguous technical initiatives and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for reusable cyber ranges and balance realism, security, and delivery.
• Improve Ansible and Packer architecture, modularize configurations and images.
• Design and troubleshoot complex virtual networks, VMware infra, Windows/Linux systems, identity services.
• Diagnose failures across networks, OS, virtualization, images, and security products.
• Lead cross-team decisions, create standards, and mentor engineers.
• Strengthen repository quality, automation, release processes, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform Engineering, Security, and other staff engineers.
