Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time, in-person Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Staff Engineer to support the Civil Engineering department, with additional collaboration alongside the Land Survey department. This position is responsible for preparing civil engineering design drawings, project plans, reports, applications, and submittal materials in accordance with firm standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple project components while working collaboratively with engineers, surveyors, field staff, administrative team members, and senior management.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain civil engineering drawing sets in accordance with firm CAD standards.
• Draft and design projects for the Civil Engineering department, with secondary support to the Land Survey department.
• Prepare subdivision layouts, site plans, roadway designs, utility layouts, grading plans, stormwater management plans, sewer and water designs, land development plans, and onsite septic system designs.
• Prepare AutoCAD drafting and preparation of design drawings.
• Prepare presentation drawings, project exhibits, and related materials as needed.
• Assemble components of agency submittal packets, permit applications, and related project documentation.
• Support the Engineering Department with report writing, agency applications, field work coordination, scheduling, and other project-related tasks.
• Conduct site visits for soil testing and field evaluations as needed.
• Observe installation of sewer piping, sewer structures, water delivery piping, water infrastructure, roadway construction, parking areas, and related site improvements.
• Oversee or witness testing of sewer and water utilities as required by project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct stormwater observations and document compliance with applicable stormwater plans and project requirements.
• Maintain detailed field records, including observation notes, photographs, reports, and as-built information.
• Identify and document field concerns so they can be reviewed and addressed by the appropriate project team members.
• Act strictly in an observational role and avoid directing construction activities, means, methods, sequencing, or site operations.
• Coordinate with all departments to support successful project completion.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering is required.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Understanding of sewer, water, stormwater, roadway, parking, and site infrastructure systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines and departments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Willingness to visit project sites for inspections, soil testing, and field coordination as needed.
