Who We Are

Resonant Link Medical is pioneering the future of wireless power and data transfer for implantable medical devices to help people get well and stay well. We’re committed to revolutionizing patient care by delivering high-performance, reliable, and efficient wireless charging solutions that eliminate the burden of frequent battery‑replacement surgeries, improve patient outcomes, and enable better care outside hospital settings. We’ve designed our first-of‑its‑kind wireless charging technology into more than 50 types of medical devices and support customers around the world from our offices in Burlington, Vermont; Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Zurich, Switzerland.

Resonant Link Medical is looking for an exceptional Staff Embedded Engineer to help define the next generation of wireless power systems for implantable medical devices. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of embedded software, advanced power electronics, and medical technology, developing firmware that enables smaller, smarter, and longer‑lasting implanted devices.

As a hands‑on technical leader, you will have substantial ownership of firmware architecture and development across multiple product platforms, working directly with experts in electromagnetics, controls, and electrical engineering to turn breakthrough technology into reliable, production‑ready systems.

Working closely with our electrical, controls, systems, quality, and test engineers, you will lead the development of robust, production‑ready firmware while establishing RLM's internal software development capabilities in accordance with IEC 62304. You will help build the engineering practices, processes, and technical foundation needed to support our growing portfolio of medical device technologies, including software‑related safety requirements and risk controls supporting IEC 60601 compliance. You will bring sound engineering judgment to architecture, coding, verification, and documentation, while remaining actively involved in development and hardware‑software debugging. With meaningful technical ownership and support from experts across disciplines, you will connect leading‑edge R&D to reliable products that improve people’s lives.

At Resonant Link Medical, we’re committed to building a collaborative culture that spans disciplines and geographies. To help us deliver on our mission, we’re looking for detail‑oriented problem solvers and empathetic team players who are accountable, self‑directed, and comfortable working in a quickly growing and evolving business. If you thrive in a high‑impact, hands‑on environment and are excited to help advance promising medical technology, this is the role for you.

Your typical day will involve...
  • Owning embedded software development across RLM's product platforms, taking work from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, and release.
  • Shaping firmware architecture and technical direction across RLM's product platforms, establishing scalable, maintainable software designs that simplify integration, enable new capabilities, and support long‑term product evolution.
  • Establishing and owning RLM's internal IEC 62304 software development practices, creating practical, scalable processes for requirements management, software architecture, risk controls, traceability, verification, and release documentation in partnership with systems and quality engineers.
  • Building internal software development expertise, strengthening RLM's engineering capabilities and reducing reliance on external development resources while maintaining a high standard of technical execution and regulatory rigor.
  • Owning software safety requirements and risk controls supporting IEC 60601 compliance, implementing protective measures and verifying that the system responds correctly to faults.
  • Developing and refining production firmware, building drivers, hardware interfaces, communications, and charging functions that deliver consistent, reliable system behavior.
  • Working alongside controls and electrical engineering experts to integrate new charging capabilities into robust, testable product firmware.
  • Getting hands‑on with hardware and firmware integration and debugging, using schematics and laboratory tools to identify root causes and resolve issues affecting system performance.
  • Defining and implementing software verification strategies, developing automated tests that catch regressions and working with the testing team to verify requirements.
  • Creating clear, useful technical documentation, making design decisions easy to understand and requirements traceable through implementation and verification.
  • Bringing new features from concept to release, balancing technical tradeoffs and seeing your work operating on real hardware.
  • Providing hands‑on technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration, elevating engineering practices while remaining actively involved in implementation and debugging.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience developing embedded software in accordance with IEC 62304, with a strong understanding of software lifecycle processes, requirements management, architecture, risk controls, traceability, verification, and release documentation. Capable of establishing, owning, and continuously improving a practical, scalable software development lifecycle appropriate for a growing medical technology company.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex embedded software development, with the ability to independently drive architecture, implementation, hardware integration, verification, and production release. Experience successfully delivering embedded firmware in commercial products and collaborating effectively across engineering disciplines.
  • Strong embedded C and firmware architecture skills, including experience with resource‑constrained MCUs, RTOS‑based and bare‑metal systems, peripheral interfaces, and clear, maintainable, testable production code.
  • Strong practical electronics knowledge and hands‑on hardware‑software integration experience, including board bring‑up, schematic interpretation, debugging complex interactions between firmware and electronics, and using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debuggers to resolve system‑level issues.
  • Strong verification, documentation, and communication skills, with experience developing software tests, explaining technical decisions, and maintaining clear development records. Comfortable moving between coding, lab work, and lifecycle activities in a growing company, while helping establish effective engineering practices and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with power electronics, closed‑loop control, or wireless power‑transfer systems.
