Job summary

Voya Energy is seeking an experienced Staff Electrochemical Systems Engineer to lead architecture, integration, and performance definition for our metal-fueled power platform. You will steer subsystem interfaces and define assemblies for commercial, industrial, and utility sectors.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in system architecture and practical design, with a background in fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, or electrochemical manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in systems engineering with architecture ownership.
• Experience specifying, sourcing, and integrating equipment.
• Strong grasp of subsystem interactions and operating envelopes.
• Background in chemical processing, power, or electrochemical hardware.
• Familiarity with codes/standards and EHS practices (HAZOP/PHAs).
• Experience with CAD, P&IDs/PFDs, and process simulators is a plus.
• DFM/DFA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end system architecture, defining boundaries across domains.
• Translate requirements into detailed, testable specs at multiple levels.
• Specify and select equipment balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Maintain a system-level model to define performance envelopes.
• Lead trade studies and safety reviews per industry standards.
• Create documentation including architecture diagrams and interfaces.
• Identify risks early and drive mitigation efforts.
