Job summary

CTwater is seeking a Staff Electrician to maintain and oversee electrical systems supporting high-quality water service. You will collaborate with trades and engineers on projects and emergencies, install and test wiring, and ensure code compliance with ARC flash safety and NFPA 70E standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working on commercial electrical systems, three phase power, and 480v systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Valid E-1 required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Place conduit, pipes, or tubing and pull insulated wires to complete circuits.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards and ensure code compliance.
• Use tools and equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and power tools.
• Assemble, install, test, or maintain wiring and fixtures per specifications.
• Work with staff tradesmen and engineers on projects and emergencies.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, generators, and switches.
• Plan layout and installation, provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates.
• Test systems using ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure safety and compatibility.

Job Description

The Staff Electrician (E1) is responsible for providing excellent customer service by maintaining and overseeing all of the electrical systems operated in their assigned area. They will also ensure the delivery of high quality water by inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing commercial electrical systems and other related equipment. This also includes overseeing the work of subcontractors.

• Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
• Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools. Construct or fabricate parts, using hand tools, according to specifications.

• Work alongside staff tradesman including electricians, plumbers, facilities and control systems technicians and design engineers in the successful completion of project and emergency work.

• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, generators, automatic transfer switches or other components.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services.
• Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, motor starters, and variable frequency drives.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
• Proficient in ARC flash safety procedures, NEC and NFPA 70E.
• General knowledge of programmable logic controllers, instrumentation, and pump controls.
• Assist Service Delivery with necessary tasks involving various activities for maintaining Company facilities and during emergency response situations by following guidance of Service Delivery Facilities Manager related to identification, procurement, assembly, and activation of equipment to address urgentsituations.
• Responsible for maintaining a culture of safety among internal staff and external contractor teams.Responsible for learning, following, and ensuring compliance with safety rules.This includes rules and regulations in the Company Safety Manual, OSHA regulations, Company electrical safety program, and other state, federal, or governing body’s rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
