Job summary

BD is seeking a senior electrical engineer in Durham, NC to lead robotics design initiatives from concept through production, including prototyping and verification. You will support a global R&D team, improve product quality, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards across multiple lines.

You’ll apply expertise in motion control, power electronics, embedded systems, and design tooling while developing robust documentation and supporting certifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience in electrical engineering for robotics or medical devices.
  • Experience with design, prototyping, verification, and certification activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead senior EE on robotic product designs from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams on improvements and new designs.
  • Support the R&D global technical team on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Improve quality and reliability of Pharmacy Automation products.
  • Provide electrical solutions for test setups, diagnostics, and tooling.
  • Create, update, and release technical documentation and support regulatory certification.
  • Provide electrical support for ongoing regulatory certification efforts.

Job Description Key Responsibilities
  • As a senior member of the electrical engineering team, work collaboratively with multi-functional teams to complete critical improvements or net new robotic product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, build, verification, validation, and certification.
  • Support the R&D global technical team on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Actively work to improve the quality and reliability of current and future products within the Pharmacy Automation portfolio by applying theoretical and hands‑on electrical support to identify problems and deliver robust solutions.
  • Provide electrical solutions for changes to existing products in terms of: design test setups for manufacturing, write test applications, develop tools for system diagnostics and monitoring capabilities, and provide support for existing board designs.
  • Create, update, and release technical documentation to support the electrical aspects of the systems being developed.
  • Provide electrical support for the ongoing regulatory certification efforts for multiple product lines.
Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge with motion control, AC power electronics, motors and controls , sensors, servo systems, and embedded control systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with LabView and/or LabWindows CVI software to develop and support test automation
  • Familiarity with the Altium PCB development environment or similar EE design package for schematic capture , board layout , m anufacturing files, and documentation for PCBA development.
  • System level electrical architecture experience a must .
  • Ability to build prototype printed circuit board assemblies and cables.
  • Experience in obtaining and maintaining regulatory certification for products which comply with UL-61010 or UL-60601, CE and TuV .
  • Experience with obtaining EMI/EMC certification.
