Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Staff Electrical Engineer (Circuit Design) to shape embedded electronics from concept through prototype, selecting hardware and driving board bring-up for defense platforms.

You will collaborate with firmware, software, and test teams on processor/peripheral choices, lab validation, and multi-project execution while ensuring robust, secure hardware designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years designing, testing, and debugging complex hardware and embedded systems.
• Experience with multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR memory buses, Ethernet MAC/PHY, FPGAs, SPI and I2C.
• Experience selecting MCU/MPU, configuring interfaces and peripherals.
• Schematic capture, high-speed board design, and PCB layout.
• Proficient with test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers and current probes.
• Familiarity with product development processes and tools.
• Embedded software basics: timers, interrupts, peripherals, SPI, ADCs.
• Embedded Linux development: device trees, drivers, bootloaders, Unix tools.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Proficient with Altium Designer or equivalent.
• Familiar with Python for test automation.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design embedded electronics from concept to prototype, including hardware selection, schematic and PCB design, bring-up, and system integration.
• Troubleshoot electrical and software boundary issues using lab equipment and debugging tools.
• Work with modern SoCs and networking hardware for platform development.
• Collaborate with firmware/software engineers for processor/peripheral selection and bring-up.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver functional products.
• Support fast-paced development, deployments, and customer-operated hardware.
• Contribute to multiple projects concurrently at various stages.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design embedded electronics from concept to functional prototype, including hardware selection, schematic & PCB design, board bring-up, and system level integration
• Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
• Work with modern SoCs and networking hardware to build Anduril platforms
• Work closely with firmware/software engineers for processor/peripheral selection, board bring up, and troubleshooting.
• Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products
• Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and customer operated hardware
• Concurrently manage involvement in multiple projects at various stages

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 8+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex hardware, embedded systems, and products
• Demonstrated experience with multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR memory busses, Ethernet MAC and PHY interfaces, FPGAs, and common communication busses like SPI and I2C
• Experience with microprocessor and microcontroller selection, configuration, and interfacing
• Experience with component, schematic capture, high speed board design, and guiding PCB layout.
• Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current-probes, and automation of tests
• Familiarity with product development processes and tools
• Knowledge of embedded software development, including use of timers, interrupts, hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs
• Knowledge of embedded Linux development, including device trees, hardware drivers, bootloaders, and basic Unix/Linux tools
• Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral)
• Proficient with Altium Designer or equivalent electronic design tools
• Familiar with common programming languages like Python for test automation.
• Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

US Salary Range

$191,000 - $253,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
