Job summary

Otter is seeking a Staff Designer to tackle the biggest, messiest problems with ambiguity and leadership. You will identify impactful problems, translate vague directions into actionable plans, and drive cross-team initiatives from concept to shipped product with a distinct Otter polish.

You will mentor peers and elevate storytelling to persuade stakeholders, aiming for cohesive, craft-driven experiences that feel uniquely Otter. This on-site role is based in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• A track record of finding the right problem to solve, not just solving the one you were given.
• Experience shipping work that started as pure ambiguity, no clean brief, no clear owner, just a direction.
• A sharp eye for brand and craft, someone who notices when something feels almost right and pushes it the rest of the way.
• Strong storytelling instincts, you can get a room to believe in a direction before it exists.
• Enterprise or B2B experience is a strong plus, and bonus points if you've also touched the consumer side of that same business.

What you'll do

We're looking for a Staff Designer to take on the biggest, messiest, most ambiguous problems at Otter, the ones that don't have an owner yet because nobody's figured out what the real problem even is. This isn't a role where you're handed a brief. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.

The base salary range for this role is $182,000 - $230,000 per year.

Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.
