Job summary

HealthWorks for Northern Virginia in Herndon, VA is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care to underserved populations served by our FQHC. The role includes clinical duties, records maintenance, and participation in facility program development. Competitive salary with a benefits package and no weekend hours.

The position requires graduation from an accredited dental school and licensure in Virginia; a general practice residency is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school.
  • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges required; hospital privileges preferred.
  • FTCA coverage or private professional malpractice insurance obtainable.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and implementing HW's health care plan.
  • Accepts clinical responsibilities as assigned by Chief Dental Officer.
  • Adheres to quality assessment guidelines, CLIA, OSHA or federally mandated standards.
  • Participates in on-call and hospital duties, and professional program development.
  • Recommends supplies and equipment purchases to the Chief Dental Officer.
  • Develops and observes policies, procedures, and protocols to meet HW goals.
  • Maintains pediatric medical records within 48 hours of visits.
  • Maintains office hours and vacation/personal days as per policy.
  • Participates in staff meetings and teaching of Health Science students.

  • As part of the HealthWorks for Northern Virginia (HW) team, assists in both the planning and implementation of (HW)'s health care plan.
  • Accepts clinical responsibilities/duties assigned or requested by the Chief Dental Officer.
  • Adheres to quality assessment guideline, CLIA, OSHA or other regulations as federally mandated or as set forth by standards of practice of HW.
  • Assists in the responsibility of on call and hospital duty for the practice. Participates in hospital activities and professional program development.
  • Recommends purchase of supplies and equipment (outside of the regular operating budget) to the Chief Dental Officer.
  • Develops and observes policies procedures and protocols to achieve the HealthWorks for Northern Virginia's goals and objectives.
  • Recommends changes in staffing, services, facilities, scheduling or patient flow (i.e. practice management) to the Chief Dental Officer.
  • Maintains organized, complete pediatric medical records with regard to content appropriateness and confidentiality. All patient notes and the record must be completed within 48 hours of the visit.
  • Assists in the evaluation of dental record QA and outcomes measures.
  • Maintains the office hours of the center and must abide by HealthWorks for Northern Virginia's policy for vacation, personal days, annual leave, and continuing medical education for physicians.
  • Participates in provider staff, clinical staff, and general staff, meetings.
  • Shares in responsibility of teaching of Health Science students, residents, and other health professionals as the community health center becomes involved in the training of Health Science students.
  • Maintains certifications which strengthen provider ability to provide quality care (i.e. ACLS, PALS, APLS, NRC, etc.)
  • Represents HW in the community through involvement in community activities, which support the mission and philosophy of HW.
  • Participates in marketing self and HW to the community as a way of attracting new patients to the practice.

Position Requirements Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school;

Licensure and Credentials:

  • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Virginia (commissioned NHSC/PHS officers are exempt);
  • Current CPR (BLS) certifications, ACLS preferred;
  • Current DEA registrations; and
  • Medicare and Medicaid and other health plan provider numbers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Proficient and thorough electronic medical records skills including the preparation of reports. Demonstrates strong customer service skills; ability to prioritize and execute a variety of tasks simultaneously; self motivated; ability to maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, providers, staff and other customers/vendors. Ability to be flexible and highly reliable
