Job summary

Google LLC in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Gemini App Data Engineering team. You will architect and operate large-scale data pipelines delivering telemetry across Gemini surfaces, enabling rapid analytics and ML/AI training at a global scale.

The role requires 8+ years of software development, expertise in Go/C++, and experience leading a small team to define technical direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with Spark, Flink, Beam, Airflow, or BigQuery/Snowflake or similar infrastructure is preferred.
• Experience developing, debugging, and supporting large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and workflow orchestration tools.
• Experience in Go/C++.
• Experience in a technical Lead or similar role, ideally setting technical direction for a small group of engineers.
• Ability to address daily business data requirements and maintain Gemini App's growth.

Responsibilities

• Architect and operate data pipelines delivering telemetry across Gemini surfaces.
• Scale data pipelines for analytics and ML/AI training loops.
• Own data quality, reliability, and observability including SLAs/SLOs for critical datasets.
• Mentor and grow engineers, conducting reviews and providing actionable feedback.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams to meet business data needs.
