Job summary

Vanta is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design and deploy scalable data models and data infrastructure that empower data science and ML product teams. You’ll lead data administration, master data management, and develop enterprise-wide analytical applications, while driving reporting capabilities across the organization.

You will leverage tools like Stitch/Fivetran, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt, Airflow, and looker-related platforms to enable insightful analytics, with remote-friendly

Qualifications

• Six years of experience working with data.
• Two years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
• Experience with Stitch/Fivetran, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Looker/Mode/Sigma.
• Led an implementation of Debezium or another CDC event tracking system.
• Good working knowledge of AWS data infra systems and Terraform.
• System-oriented mindset to data engineering and building scalable data frameworks.
• Knowledge of dimensional and fact modeling in modern data architectures.
• Interest in enabling the developer experience of data and responsible AI usage.

Responsibilities

• Write highly tuned, scalable SQL queries over large-scale data warehouses.
• Collaborate with Product and Enterprise Engineering to structure source systems for reporting consumption.
• Help maintain the CDC pipeline to power customer reporting.

What you’ll do as a Staff Data Engineer at Vanta:

How to be successful in this role:

• Have at least six years of experience working with data and two years of experience in Software Engineering or a related field.
• Have experience with common analytics tooling (e.g. Stitch/Fivetran, Snowflake/BigQuery/Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Looker/Mode/Sigma).
• Have led an implementation of Debezium or another CDC event tracking system.
• Have good working knowledge of AWS data infra systems and Terraform.
• Bring a system-oriented and software engineering mindset to the Data Engineering practice. We’re looking to build frameworks that manage data, and minimize bespoke queries
• Deep knowledge of crafting dimensional and fact models in modern data fashion (experience at Amazon, Facebook, etc a plus)
• Have a passion for enabling the developer experience of data, and being obsessed with giving data super powers across the company.
• Desire to lead the industry in security, anonymization, and compliance management when it comes to data warehousing
• Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
