This role partners with product management, architecture, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to design, build, and support scalable, secure, and reliable systems supporting critical healthcare business functions.
Design and implement high-quality software features and components for complex software solutions, including the responsible use of agentic coding tools to enhance productivity, maintainability, and software quality. Select appropriate design patterns and follow industry best practices to create maintainable, long-lived code optimized for long-term quality. Work with the product team to develop software that meets requirements while remaining maintainable and performant. Lead sizing and complexity evaluation discussions for initiatives. Troubleshoot complex software, application, and performance issues through analysis, testing, benchmarking, and root-cause investigation. Facilitate effective team collaboration, guiding and mentoring peers in engineering best practices including automated testing, code reviews, documentation, and secure coding standards.
Define test practices covering all layers of the application. Define and implement QA processes such as code review and static analysis. Create testing strategies covering unit, system, and end-to-end tests as well as security, performance, regression, and automation testing. Coach teams on testing techniques such as test-driven development (TDD), behavior-driven development (BDD), and testing for positive and negative scenarios.
Devise data storage and access strategies that meet the needs of high complexity features. Use knowledge of data modeling, data storage, and data transmission techniques to make appropriate design decisions. Design and implement scalable data ingestion and processing solutions supporting analytical and operational workloads. Design metadata to make applications more scalable and adaptable. Apply data modeling, schema design, query optimization, and database performance tuning techniques for relational database systems. Design solutions that address data quality, idempotency, late-arriving data, scalability, and maintainability requirements.
Advise on and pilot specialized cloud services for analytics, AI/ML, etc. Design and support cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS technologies including MWAA (Apache Airflow), Glue, Lambda, SQS, S3, EKS (Kubernetes), Aurora PostgreSQL, and Redshift. Expert-level management of relational and non-relational database servers. Manage infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC), including Terraform. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Concourse, or similar technologies. Establish advanced monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions for infrastructure. Design systems for high availability, load balancing, and disaster recovery.
