Job summary

Okta seeks a Staff Data Analyst within People Analytics to design and deliver analytics solutions shaping workforce planning, organisational effectiveness, and employee experience. You will develop predictive models, scalable dashboards, and apply emerging AI to solve workforce challenges while partnering with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in People Analytics or related analytics discipline.
  • Strong data visualization, data warehousing, SQL querying, and reporting skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and report on the entire employee lifecycle—from hiring and onboarding through development and exit—by designing dashboards and reports that provide insights into hiring, attrition, engagement, performance, promotions, compensation, headcount, and organisational health.
  • Partner with People Team leaders, stakeholders across the business, and data teams to translate business questions into analytical approaches, ensure data quality and governance, and deliver executive‑ready insights.
  • Design, build, and maintain predictive analytics models that identify workforce trends, risks, and opportunities, including attrition prediction, workforce forecasting, employee lifecycle analysis, and talent pipeline analytics.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods including regression, clustering, forecasting, survival analysis, and segmentation to solve complex workforce challenges and inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Analyze employee feedback from surveys, onboarding, exit interviews, and other listening channels using NLP and text analytics to identify emerging themes and actionable insights.
  • Explore and prototype generative AI use cases that automate narrative reporting, summarise workforce trends, and enhance decision support while maintaining governance and data privacy standards.

The Staff Data Analyst People Analytics Opportunity

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and delivery of people analytics solutions that directly impact workforce planning, organisational effectiveness, and employee experience. You’ll develop advanced predictive models, create scalable dashboards, and apply emerging AI technologies to solve complex workforce challenges while partnering closely with cross‑functional stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing
  • Analyze and report on the entire employee lifecycle—from hiring and onboarding through development and exit—by designing dashboards and reports that provide insights into hiring, attrition, engagement, performance, promotions, compensation, headcount, and organisational health.
  • Partner with People Team leaders, stakeholders across the business, and data teams to translate business questions into analytical approaches, ensure data quality and governance, and deliver executive‑ready insights.

What you’ll bring to the role
  • 7+ years of experience in People Analytics, HR Analytics, Workforce Analytics, Data Science, or a related analytics discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency with data visualisation and reporting tools, data warehousing platforms, spreadsheet and SQL querying, and enterprise HR platforms.
    • Having experience with our direct tech stack is highly preferred:
    • Data visualization and reporting: Tableau
    • Data warehousing: Snowflake
    • Spreadsheet and querying: Excel, SQL
    • Enterprise HR platforms: Workday, ServiceNow, Greenhouse
  • Demonstrated expertise applying advanced statistical methods including regression, clustering, forecasting, and text analytics.
  • Excellent data visualisation and storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex findings into clear business recommendations for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders, influence decisions through data, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R for statistical analysis, predictive modelling, and automation.
  • Familiarity with generative AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and other emerging AI technologies applied to analytics.
  • Experience implementing sound data management and governance practices across large, complex datasets.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $149,000—$205,000 USD.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington is between: $133,000—$183,000 USD.
