Job summary

Guitar Center seeks a Staff Data Analyst to serve as the senior analytics partner to Merchandising and adjacent commercial teams. This senior IC will identify opportunities, size them, frame questions, and influence leaders to act with measured data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional data analytics experience at staff level or as a senior IC leader.
• Experience partnering with leaders to size opportunities, shape priorities, and improve decisions.
• Deep fluency in retail, eCommerce, merchandising, inventory, pricing, promotions, customer, or finance analytics.
• Strong skills in SQL and Python with ability to review AI-generated code for correctness.
• Strong experimental design and causal inference judgment.
• Strong BI and data visualization fluency in Omni, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Excellent communication skills for senior leaders and non-technical partners.
• Staff-level influence and ownership across analytics and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Merchandising to guide decisions across pricing, assortment, promotions and inventory.
• Identify, size, and sequence high-value revenue and margin opportunities with business partners.
• Translate ambiguous questions into analytical measurement plans and proofs-of-concept.
• Define data needs and coordinate with Data Engineering and BI to implement solutions.
• Lead experimentation design, groups, and interpretation considering seasonality and cannibalization.
• Turn insights into clear recommendations and build merchandising fluency in data usage.
• Collaborate to define and document policies for experimentation and causal inference.
