GFT in Roseville, CA is seeking Civil/Structural Engineers for hybrid, in-office roles focused on water infrastructure. You will collaborate with geotechnical engineers and geologists to design dams, spillways, and water conveyance structures across all project phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; structural emphasis preferred.
• E.I.T. certification required with ability to obtain PE license within 1 year.
• 4+ years of direct civil engineering experience.
• Experience with design software (Tedds, SAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D).
• Willingness to work on aging infrastructure and water conveyance/earth retention structures.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

GFT is seeking Civil/Structural Engineers to support the design and construction of critical infrastructure projects in Northern California. This is a Hybrid position and would require consistent attendance to our Roseville, CA office. Joining the dams and hydraulics team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. Our team excels in dams and levees, water conveyance (canals, flumes, penstocks), spillways, ground anchors, and rehabilitation of aging infrastructure. What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate directly with a multi-disciplinary team including other civil/structural engineers, geotechnical engineers and geologists to implement innovative design solutions through all phases of a project’s lifecycle. Our engineering team excels in tackling the most challenging civil/structural assignments to provide innovative solutions for dams, foundations, underground construction, earth structures, and water conveyance structures. Our engineers are experts in dam stability and seepage, earth retention structures, and structure foundations.

• Performing routine and complex design, analysis, and engineering calculations, including concrete and steel structures, foundation support, and earth retaining structures.
• Assisting with the preparation of construction drawings, technical reports/memoranda, specifications, quantities of materials, and cost estimates to meet scope, schedule, cost, and regulatory requirements.
• Reviewing shop drawings to determine conformance with the contract documents.
• Attending client meetings and participates under direct supervision of project manager.
• Communicating with clients and construction personnel to implement appropriate designs and project solutions under supervision of project manager.
• Field work including inspections of existing infrastructure and construction observation may comprise up to 30% of the position. This includes travel to client locations or project sites and may include overnight stays.
• Serving a project manager for small- to medium-sized projects or a task manager on larger, more complex projects.
• Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, with structural emphasis preferred
• Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification required with the ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within one year
• 4 or more years of direct work experience in civil engineering
• Experience in advanced design software applications preferred (Tedds, SAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc.)
• Willingness to tackle the unique engineering challenges related to aging infrastructure, with an understanding of civil/structural engineering principles, concepts, and practices applied to water conveyance and earth retention structures
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with project proposals and presentations preferred
• Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks or project management of small projects

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
