Job summary

Fastly is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for CIAM to centralize and simplify how organizations manage user identities and profile data at the edge. You will design secure identity services, lead complex initiatives, and mentor teams while partnering with product and security to reduce risk.

You will operate in a hybrid model with US-based travel, contributing to architecture and engineering excellence across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and operating authentication/authorization systems in production.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure, scalable identity services including authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle.
• Lead implementation of complex technical initiatives from design through production.
• Serve as technical lead for core CIAM areas, guiding architecture and reviews.
• Partner with engineering, product and security to shape plans and manage risks.
• Break down ambiguous problems into practical, incremental solutions with high engineering quality.
• Promote modern identity patterns and best practices across the CIAM platform.
• Improve reliability, security, and maintainability of identity services.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and collaboration.
• Foster an inclusive engineering culture and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
