Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital seeks a casual, as-needed Staff Chaplain to assist our Pastoral Care Department. The Chaplain plans, organizes and implements ongoing pastoral care services in the hospital to increase sensitivity to individuals and families in crisis and to decrease stress in the hospital.

The Chaplain will be available to work evening hours and weekends as needed, with on-call shifts from midnight to 8am on occasion and a 30-minute response time when on call.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Ordination and denominational endorsement required.
• Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education required; 4 units preferred; complete within 1 year if not present.
• Board Certification as a Chaplain preferred.
• Two years of related experience (pastoral roles, counseling, military chaplain, etc.) required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and implement ongoing hospital pastoral care services.
• Meet spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families and staff; help reduce stress.
• Coordinate the hospital bereavement program and provide additional care as needed.
• Be available for evening hours and weekends; on-call shifts midnight to 8am as needed.
• Maintain a <=30-minute response time to the hospital when on call.

Our Staff Chaplainplans, organizes and implements ongoing pastoral care services in the hospital in order to increase sensitivity to individuals and families in crisis and to decrease the level of stress in the hospital. Our staff works to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of the patient as well as the hospital and initiates measures to reduce stress. In addition, coordinates the hospital bereavement program and provides addition care for patients, visitors, and staff as needed. The Chaplain will be available to work evening hours and weekends as needed. The incumbent will also need to be available for on-call shifts from midnight to 8am from time to time, answering the summons via a hospital-required app. The incumbent needs to be within a 30-minute response time of the hospital.

• Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
• Ordination and current denominational endorsement required.

• Minimum of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education required, four units preferred. If incumbent does not have at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education when hired, incumbent must complete 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education within one year of hire date.

• Board Certification as a Chaplain preferred.
