Job summary

Brex in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York is seeking a Staff brand designer to join a cross-disciplinary design team. This role blends strategy and hands-on craft to evolve our brand identity and drive cohesion across product, marketing, and partnerships.

As a systems thinker, you will define new design patterns, articulate decisions to senior stakeholders, and lead high-impact brand work, campaigns, and launches while collaborating with Marketing and Web teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in brand design or art direction.
• Portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, system design, and high-quality execution.
• Deep expertise in typography, color, composition, and scalable visual systems.
• Ability to articulate design decisions and align with cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.
• Experience across multiple workstreams in fast-paced environments.
• Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with prototyping ability.
• Practical experience using AI tools in the creative process with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Brex’s brand identity system, including visual language, typography, color, illustration, and brand patterns.
• Define and maintain brand standards that balance consistency with creative flexibility across teams and channels.
• Translate company strategy and brand vision into clear, compelling visual direction in partnership with leadership.
• Design and deliver new brand expressions that advance the identity while preserving recognition and equity.
• Lead high-impact brand work beyond the core system, including special campaigns, sub-brands, and select product or service launches.
• Art direct and contribute to brand campaigns, collaborating with external partners and internal teams to ensure exceptional craft.
• Provide guidance and feedback across the organization to raise the quality and effectiveness of brand execution.
