AFFIRM is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead Observability. You’ll architect the telemetry stack, drive cross-functional projects, and mentor six engineers while partnering with infrastructure and product teams.

You’ll own scalable backend systems, design sampling strategies, and define technical roadmaps to improve reliability, performance, and cost. Remote-first with competitive compensation and equity options.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with telemetry systems (metrics/logs/traces) and observability.
• Strong communication and collaboration across global teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Aufgaben

• Own the architecture of the telemetry pipeline for 200+ TB/day.
• Design log sampling strategies to reduce volume and cost.
• Shape observability in agentic development and AI coding agents.
• Set technical strategy for the team on a yearly horizon.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics.
• Act as a force-multiplier for technical solutions and processes.
• Ensure monitoring, on-call readiness, and runbooks.
• Establish code review and design standards across the team.
• Mentor engineers and lead by example.
