Job summary

Pika is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend to lead and scale the backend infrastructure powering our user-facing products. You will own the design and delivery of robust, scalable systems, APIs, and infrastructure supporting real-time collaboration, AI-powered workflows, and reliable product experiences.

As a staff engineer, you will shape the technical foundation and mentor engineers across the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, with 2+ years in senior backend roles.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, RESTful and real-time APIs, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Track record of launching scalable backend features for high-traffic apps.
• Ability to lead complex projects and own backend architecture.
• Strong collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Build distributed systems and infrastructure in AWS/GCP.
• Own backend features from ideation to launch.
• Develop real-time collaboration and messaging systems.
• Design AI-powered backend capabilities.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor engineers.
