Qualifikationen

• Must be an active member, in good standing, in the State Bar of California.
• Direct Legal Services preferred, especially SSI/SSDI experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication, particularly advocacy.
• Sensitivity to people with disabilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be compassionate, well-organized, reliable and collaborative.
• Commitment to harm reduction, trauma-informed principles, and cultural humility.

Aufgaben

• Represent clients in applications/appeals for SSI/SSDI and CAPI benefits.
• Interview clients, assess eligibility, complete forms, and initiate filings/appeals.
• Prepare for Administrative Hearings: briefs, client testimony, opening statements, and direct/cross examination.
• Assess decisions for appealability and potential further reviews.
• Maintain case files and deadlines per Prevail; calendar case-related dates.
• Provide additional public-benefits support (Medi-Cal, CalFresh) and referrals.
