Job summary

LANWT seeks a Staff Attorney to deliver high-quality civil legal services to low-income clients across multiple practice areas in Texas. The attorney will perform client interviews, legal research, drafting of pleadings, and court representation, while engaging in outreach and collaboration with community partners to advance access to justice.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement in Midland, involves occasional evening/weekend clinics, and requires a strong commitment to public interest law

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas or awaiting reciprocity approval
• Strong knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage a caseload and work collaboratively

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality civil legal services to low-income clients.
• Interview clients and witnesses with cultural competence and trauma‑informed practices.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients in court and before administrative or quasi‑judicial agencies.
• Supervise and coordinate work of staff and volunteers as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of LSC regulations and LANWT policies.
