Job summary

San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, Inc. seeks a full-time Staff Attorney for the Microbusiness and Nonprofit Support Program. You will provide transactional legal counsel to low-income entrepreneurs and nonprofits, recruit pro bono attorneys, and supervise non-attorney staff.

Hybrid work and occasional travel are required. Ideal candidates will have California Bar admission, excellent communication, and strong mentorship skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be a member in good standing of the California Bar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mentorship and teaching skills; teamwork ability.
  • Ability to work independently with accuracy and follow-through.
  • Willingness to travel to SDVLP offices as needed.
  • Flexibility for evenings and weekends during events/deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, train, and supervise pro bono attorneys.
  • Recruit pro bono attorney volunteers through community outreach.
  • Develop and maintain training materials for pro bono attorneys.
  • Coordinate clinics with community partners for entrepreneurs and nonprofits.
  • Supervise non-attorney staff and manage data/reports for funding sources.
  • Support grant deliverables and programmatic activities.
