Job summary

On Call Counsel is partnering with a national nonprofit organization to hire experienced Immigration Staff Attorneys to serve refugees and vulnerable populations, including Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC).

Attorneys will provide legal consultations, orientations, and direct representation in removal proceedings, with opportunities for courtroom appearances and diverse asylum matters. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• 1+ years of immigration legal experience.
• Prior experience working with children and/or youth.
• Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills.
• Experience representing individuals in removal proceedings.
• Strong organizational and case/project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal orientations and individual consultations with UAC.
• Assess immigration cases and potential forms of relief.
• Provide direct representation in removal proceedings.
• Appear in Immigration Court for Master Calendar and Individual Hearings.
• Draft and argue motions, including Motions to Continue, Terminate, and Change Venue.
• Handle affirmative and defensive asylum matters.
• Represent clients in matters involving SIJS, T visas, U visas, VAWA, Adjustment of Status, TPS, EADs, and other forms of immigration relief.

We are partnering with a national nonprofit organization providing legal and advocacy services to refugees, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations to hire experienced Immigration Staff Attorneys.

This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys passionate about immigration advocacy and working with Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC). Attorneys will provide legal consultations, orientations, and direct representation to children navigating the U.S. immigration system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal orientations and individual consultations with UAC
• Assess immigration cases and potential forms of relief
• Provide direct representation in removal proceedings
• Appear in Immigration Court for Master Calendar and Individual Hearings
• Draft and argue motions, including Motions to Continue, Terminate, and Change Venue
• Handle affirmative and defensive asylum matters
• Represent clients in matters involving SIJS, T visas, U visas, VAWA, Adjustment of Status, TPS, EADs, and other forms of immigration relief
• Maintain accurate case documentation and reporting

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar

• Experience representing individuals in removal proceedings
