Job summary

Berry Appleman & Leiden (BAL) in Richardson, TX is seeking a Staff Attorney to support immigration case work across teams. The role may float among teams, conduct legal research, and prepare complex written projects for immigration matters.

You will help supervise, evaluate cases, and guide clients through processes while maintaining high-quality, consistent filings. JD and U.S. bar licensure are required; MS Office skills and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a business immigration attorney or immigration law clerk preferred.
• J.D. degree and must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to speak/write a secondary language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage for attorneys on vacation and leave of absence.

• Prepares immigration-based filings for complex case management.

OVERVIEW:
The Staff Attorney aids the assigned team(s) in the filing of immigration case work and may also be required to ‘float’ among teams, providing temporary support and coverage. WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
• Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach daily.
• Able to perform general office administrative activities: copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone.
• Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Regular and on-time attendance.
• Must be able to prioritized, schedule and complete testing required for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.
• A certain degree of creativity and flexibility is required.
• Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
