Job summary

ChildLaw Services, Inc. in Princeton, West Virginia, seeks a compassionate Staff Attorney to join our nonprofit legal team representing children in abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, guardianship, and other child welfare matters.

The role will help families affected by the opioid epidemic in Mercer and McDowell counties, provide preventive legal services to keep families together, and serve as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem in relevant proceedings.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and admission to the West Virginia Bar in good standing.
• Strong legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities.
• Interest or experience in family or juvenile law preferred.
• Passion for working with children and families.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Represent children in court proceedings, hearings, MDT meetings, and related matters.
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research, investigations, and client interviews.
• Collaborate with community partners and multidisciplinary teams.

ChildLaw Services, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, motivated Staff Attorney to join our nonprofit legal team in Princeton, West Virginia. We exclusively represent children in West Virginia, providing court-appointed advocacy in abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, guardianship, adoption, and other child welfare matters.

This position will partially focus on helping children and families affected by the opioid epidemic in Mercer and McDowell counties by providing preventive legal services aimed at keeping families together.
