The Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County (FDOH-SJC) is part of a statewide public health system.

This is a responsible position that provides operational support and assistance for FDOH-SJC operations Environmental Public Health (EPH) department. This position works closely with the Environmental Administrator and the Operations Analyst II. This position also assists throughout the agency as needed. EPH programs include but are not limited to:

  • Swimming Pools and Bathing Places Program
  • On-site Sewage Tank Disposal System Program -(OSTDS)
  • Performance Based Treatment Systems, Community Operating Treatment Systems and Service-Related Systems
  • Well Water Surveillance Program
  • Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Parks Program

These support functions for EPH may include but are not limited to:

  • Working with clients, contractors and public
  • Answering phones and assisting clients
  • Monitoring and processing EPH emails
  • Processing applications received by regular mail, email, fax or in-person
  • Completing data entry
  • Assembling file folders with application and necessary paperwork
  • Routing and tracking file folders until completion
  • Managing and scheduling inspections and reinspection’s
  • Documenting in and maintaining any necessary tracking logs
  • Running reports as necessary
  • Processing mail appropriately
  • Processing payments appropriately and timely, per policy
  • Creating invoices
  • Assisting with projects and deliverables
  • Completing public records request
  • Creating pool closure signs

Performs support functions for FDOH-SJC which includes but is not limited to:

  • Serves as a backup for administrative front desk and processing mail
  • Completing check logs
  • Providing support for all FDOH-SJC projects and deliverables.
  • Coordinates and participates in meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Completes meeting minutes and meeting follow up as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service on the telephone and in person.

Performs support functions associated with additional EPH programs; Biomedical Waste Program, Tattoo Program, Body Piercing Program, Tanning Facilities Program, Migrant Labor Housing Program, Group Care Program, Food Safety and Sanitation Program, Limited Use Water and Well Surveillance Program, Beaches Monitoring Program. These support functions for EPH may include but are not limited to:

  • Working with clients, contractors and public
  • Answering phones and assisting clients
  • Monitoring and processing EPH emails
  • Processing applications received by regular mail, email, fax or in-person
  • Completing data entry
  • Assembling file folders with application and necessary paperwork
  • Routing and tracking file folders until completion

Qualifications:

Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite): valid Florida driver’s license.

Other job-related requirements for this position: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
