Job summary

Lithosconsultants is seeking an as-needed Staff Archaeologist to support projects across the Western United States reporting into one of three main locations: Rocky Mountain Region, Pacific Northwest, and the West Coast. The successful candidate will conduct field surveys, excavations, and laboratory analysis while working closely with senior archaeologists to ensure successful project completion.

Responsibilities include field surveys, data collection, GIS data handling, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of archaeological fieldwork experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS and related software tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various field conditions, including out of state.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct archaeological field surveys, excavations, and site assessments under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and documentation of archaeological data, artifacts, and ecofacts.
  • Prepare detailed field notes, site records, and contribute to technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CEQA and Section 106 of the NHPA.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other relevant software tools for data recording and analysis.
  • Maintain and organize field equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including historians, environmental scientists, and planners.
  • Participate in public outreach and educational initiatives as required.
  • Stay current with advancements in archaeological methods and technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior archaeologists and project managers.

Hire Type:

As Needed, Hourly with overtime compensation at one and half times regular pay, pay dependent on experience.

Salary Range:

$25-$35 per hour

Required Qualifications
