Job summary

Onto Innovation seeks a seasoned Applications Engineer to become a Subject Matter Expert on its inspection products. You will support customer applications, understand system setup and results, and present findings.

Training internal and external teams, developing system requirements, and validating designs are essential parts of the role. This position requires up to 20% international travel and offers a robust benefits package, including ESPP, PTO, and a 401(k) with employer match.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to gather and analyze data and then create clear reports and presentations.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot potential hardware or software performance issues.
• Able to efficiently gain expertise on products in a fast-paced environment.
• Good organization and planning skills.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Become a Subject Matter Expert on Onto Innovation’s Inspection products. Support customer applications development activities that require full understanding of the system set-up, inspection of customer’s product, confirmation of optimal and accurate results, and presentation of results. Work closely with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and challenges and ensure that Onto Innovation's systems are configured and utilized optimally. Provide support and applications training to customers as well as various internal functional groups to ensure systems are being used effectively. Develop system requirements that meet customer requirements and product definitions provided by other departments. Assist in developing and executing system level test plans to validate that the engineering designs meet customer requirements. Compile and assist in the presentation of test data collected during design validations to a peer group of engineers. Contribute to documentation for use in the manufacture, installation, technical support and training related to the final design. Support engineering products through entire life cycle. Support training, application support, and characterization of NPI (new product introduction). Must be able to travel internationally to customer sites at least 20% of the time, with additional travel as business needs require.

Compensation & Growth

• Base Salary Range: $144,000.00 - $216,000.00, offered in good faith and based on experience, location, and qualifications.
• Additional Rewards: Annual bonus opportunities and potential long-term incentives tied to both company and individual success.
