Job summary

Shipt is looking for a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead security practices across its engineering team. This role involves designing, implementing, and scaling security measures to protect user data effectively.

With a blend of independence and collaboration, you will work across teams, ensuring secure development practices are embedded within the organization. Candidates should have extensive programming experience, particularly in languages such as Go, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript, along with experience in cloud platforms and containerization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years programming skills in Go, Python, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with WAF and deploying with cloud platforms.
• Strong system design and architecture skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and scale security controls and processes.
• Lead and mentor team members on security best practices.
• Collaborate across teams to protect users and data.

Skills

Software engineering experience

Programming skills in Go, Python, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript

Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF)

Familiarity with containerization concepts and tools

Experience with cloud platforms

Building APIs, automation tools, and developer-facing services

Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform)

System design and architecture skills

Understanding of security breach techniques

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
