Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to join a team of security architects and engineers responsible for shaping the application's security posture across on-prem and cloud services. You will influence architectural direction and embed security throughout the product lifecycle from design to deployment.

You will lead security reviews, define threat modeling standards, and build automation tooling to scale security operations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering, Product and Platform teams to identify security risks early, influence architectural decisions, and promote secure-by-design practices.
• Define and standardize threat modeling frameworks and security design standards; lead reviews for complex distributed systems.
• Serve as SME for product security implementation reviews; oversee security code reviews and API security testing; provide remediation guidance.
• Architect and drive the roadmap for security automation; build scalable tooling to transform product security operations and vulnerability management.
• Design and lead deployment of automation/orchestration frameworks that integrate security into the cloud-native deployment pipeline.
• Identify new vulnerability classes, lead research initiatives and orchestrate security improvements across the stack.
