Job summary

Denver Public Schools in Denver, CO is seeking an attentive program assistant with the potential to grow into a Program Leader role. The role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment that supports student well-being and achievement while building strong relationships with families and staff.

You'll follow district and state policies, maintain daily schedules, and help plan activities that promote inclusive learning.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Commitment to equitable, inclusive student support.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS)/Discovery Link policies related to supervision, safety, and staff conduct.
  • Follow licensing requirements and maintain staff-to-child ratios at all times.
  • Support the daily program schedule and supervise students in collaboration with a Program Leader.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior standards per the district Behavior Matrix.
  • Assist in planning engaging curriculum and activities, including outdoor games and recreational programming.
  • Prepare, maintain, and restore program spaces before and after use; review daily schedules and supervision expectations.
  • Foster positive relationships with families and staff; provide accurate program information and substitute at program sites as needed.

Develop the skills needed to advance into a Program Leader role while contributing to the well-being and success of all students.

What You'll Do
  • Adhere to all Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS)/Discovery Link, the District, and Colorado Department of Human Services policies, procedures, and regulations related to student supervision, tracking, safety, and staff conduct
  • Follow Discovery Link staff conduct guidelines, staffing philosophy, and all licensing requirements, including maintaining required staff to child ratios at all times
  • Support the daily program schedule and supervise students in collaboration with a Program Leader
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior standards consistent with the district Behavior Matrix
  • Understand and follow accident reporting, incident documentation, and other required recordkeeping procedures, with supervisor support as needed
  • Assist in planning and implementing engaging stationary and movement-based curriculum and activities, including outdoor games and recreational programming
  • Prepare, maintain, and restore program spaces before and after use, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and completion of housekeeping duties; review daily schedules, staffing assignments, and supervision expectations
  • Foster positive relationships with families, school personnel, and Discovery Link staff; provide accurate program information, substitute at program sites as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to become CPR/First Aid Certified and Universal Precautions Certified

  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
