Aurora is seeking a Staff Application Security Engineer to help build and maintain an AI-native application security program for our driverless truck platform.

You will partner with multi-disciplinary teams to fix and design secure systems, automate tooling, and scale security practices across our software lifecycle. The role demands deep security expertise and hands-on coding across C, C++, Go, Python, and JavaScript.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in security, applications security engineering, or product security roles.
• Strong programming, debugging, and system design skills in production software.
• Ability to threat model systems and communicate risks clearly.
• Experience building developer tooling, automation, or SDLC integrations.
• Practical use of AI to support technical work with careful validation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams on fixes and secure design improvements, contributing code.
• Investigate findings with evidence and propose practical solutions to responsible teams.
• Help build and maintain the application security program and tooling, using AI to scale investigations.
• Build automation and integrate preventive controls into the SDLC to reduce risks.
