Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI Research Infrastructure, to design and run the research stack powering the Databricks AI Research group. You will build services that schedule, orchestrate, and observe large-scale training and inference workloads across thousands of GPUs, and partner with researchers and platform teams to deliver robust pipelines.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating distributed systems or infrastructure.
• Proficiency in one or more systems programming languages (C++, Rust, Go, Java, Scala).
• Experience with cluster schedulers, resource managers, or large-scale job orchestration systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure for large‑scale experiments and model training.
• Enable rapid experimentation with robust, observable pipelines.
