Job summary

UKG is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Agentic AI) to lead the design, development, and deployment of agentic AI capabilities on Google ADK and related platforms. You will architect scalable agent systems, mentor engineers, and drive technical strategy across enterprise applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable agent-powered workflows, integrate with enterprise systems, and champion best practices for observability, testing, and cost optimization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years building agentic AI systems or LLM-powered applications in production.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI platforms (Google ADK, Claude SDK, LangChain, LangGraph) in production.
• Experience designing multi-agent systems, orchestration, and tool-use architectures.
• Strong understanding of prompt engineering, context engineering, and agent patterns (ReAct, Chain-of-Thought).
• Experience integrating agents with enterprise systems via APIs, MCP, and similar protocols.

Responsibilities

• Agent Development: Design, build, and deploy production-grade AI agents using Google ADK and other agentic platforms; develop tools and multi-agent workflows.
• Platform Integration: Create agents that connect to enterprise systems via APIs, tools, and MCP servers; build custom tools, skills, and plugins.
• Technical Strategy: Define vision for agentic AI initiatives, align with business goals, communicate architectures to stakeholders.
• Leadership: Guide cross-functional teams to deliver agent-powered projects on time and budget; mentor engineers.
• Architectural Excellence: Design complex agentic systems with scalability and reliability; define coordination patterns and communication protocols.
• Agent Operations: Oversee deployment, monitoring, lifecycle management, and observability of agents; optimize performance and costs.
• Engineering Excellence: Enforce quality practices, testing strategies, and safety in agent development.
• Testing: Build testing strategies for agents including evaluation, tool validation, and adversarial testing.
• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to engineers; foster learning and continuous improvement.
• Innovation: Stay current with agentic AI tech and advocate adoption where appropriate.
