Job summary

Vendelux is hiring a Staff AI Engineer in Arlington, VA (onsite) to research and deliver AI and LLM-powered product capabilities across the platform. You will own architecture for agentic chat and multi-tenant AI infra to scale our B2B SaaS offering.

You will translate business challenges into AI solutions, balance research and engineering tradeoffs, and collaborate with product, data science, and application engineering teams to ship user-facing features with measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software/data engineering experience.
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
• Experience with HuggingFace, LangChain, and data pipelines.
• Cloud infrastructure knowledge across AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Production experience with LLMs, prompts, RAG and deployment.
• Ability to translate business problems into data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Convert business challenges into AI solutions that improve user workflows, insights, and measurable value.
• Own architecture and integration of agentic chat across Vendelux platform for reasoning, action, and insights.
• Define interaction patterns for agents with internal data, external tools, and user workflows.
• Architect multi-tenant AI infrastructure to meet performance, latency, and cost needs for a growing B2B SaaS product.
• Own observability, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails to keep AI features production-grade.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and application engineering to translate requirements into AI systems.
• Advise leadership on the AI roadmap and differentiation through AI.

Responsibilities

• Research and apply modern AI methods (AI agents, LLMs, RAG, embeddings, supervised and unsupervised learning) to enable new product capabilities with an emphasis on impact and speed
• Convert business challenges into AI solutions that improve user workflows, accelerate insights, and produce measurable value
• Own the architecture and integration of agentic chat capabilities across the Vendelux platform, including system design that enables agents to reason, take action, and deliver insights across every product surface
• Define interaction patterns for agents with internal data, external tools, and user workflows, advancing conversational AI from a feature into a foundational product layer
• Architect multi-tenant AI infrastructure to meet performance, latency, and cost requirements for a growing B2B SaaS product
• Own observability, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails to keep AI features production-grade
• Collaborate with product, data science, and application engineering teams to translate business requirements into AI systems
• Act as a thought partner to leadership on the AI roadmap, shaping how Vendelux differentiates through AI

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering or data engineering, with at least 3+ years building AI/ML-driven products
• Strong programming skills in Python and proficiency in SQL
• Experience with modern AI frameworks (e.g., HuggingFace, LangChain, etc.) and designing data pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Production experience applying LLMs and generative AI, including prompt engineering, RAG, and LLM deployment
• Strong foundation in fundamental data science and machine learning techniques, with the ability to balance research and engineering tradeoffs
• Proven ability to translate business problems into data solutions that drive business value
• Track record of shipping user-facing features with measurable impact
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across data, engineering, and product teams
• Startup experience preferred
