Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Aerostructures Loads Engineer to define and validate loads environments that drive structural design for Project Ranger. You will develop vehicle and component loads analyses across flight, ground, transport, handling, and test conditions to enable flight‑ready designs.

The ideal candidate has strong aircraft loads fundamentals and practical experience applying analytical results to design, test, and certification activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience performing air vehicle loads analysis.
• Experience developing loads models and static/dynamic/maneuver/gust/landing/ground/test loads analyses.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics, aircraft dynamics, aerodynamics, and load paths.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, Nastran, Patran, FEMAP, or HyperMesh.

Responsibilities

• Develop air vehicle and component level loads analyses for primary and secondary structures.
• Create and maintain loads models, free body diagrams, load paths, load cases, design envelopes, and critical load conditions.
• Partner with Aerodynamics, Flight Controls, Mass Properties, Propulsion, and Systems Engineering to define external, inertial, and vehicle loads.
• Deliver loads documentation including design load reports, interface loads, and critical condition summaries.
• Support ground and flight test planning, instrumentation, data analysis, and model validation.
