Job summary

Planet Fitness, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a General Staff Accountant II to perform day-to-day accounting, monthly close duties, reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP financial reporting. This role also supports budgets, audits, and tax workpapers within the Accounting department.

The position requires 2–4 years of accounting experience, strong communication, and proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite. Office environment with periodic cross‑functional collaboration is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent in experience.
• 2–4 years of accounting or audit experience, including hands-on responsibility for preparing workpapers for at least one annual external audit cycle.
• Experience preparing audit-ready deliverables and GAAP financial reporting schedules.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including documenting accounting support clearly.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and ability to apply established policies.
• Ability to prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties.
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Independently own assigned processes and close workstreams through completion.
• Proactively manage deliverables to meet close, reporting, audit, and tax deadlines; communicate delays and resolutions.
• Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger (GL) Accounts.
• Prepare audit-ready journal entries and account reconciliations with evidence.
• Contribute to annual operating budgets and projections.
• Follow established accounting processes and controls with sound judgment.
• Assist with GAAP financial reporting schedules, audit support, and tax workpapers.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal tax codes.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual balances.
• Research routine accounting questions and summarize findings for management.
